A bridal session, also known as an after session, is a similar format to an engagement session, but it will happen closer to your wedding day. You will dress in your wedding gown and suit (or whatever you plan to wear on the big day) and we will be able to explore another location, another outfit or even just photograph your love without all the hubbub of your big day.
A bridal/after session can be a great addition to your wedding coverage for a number of reasons:
You might want your wedding day to unfold with as few interruptions as possible which means skipping sunset portraits — or maybe you want just a little more portrait time than would be possible on your wedding day while still spending most of the evening with your guests. A bridal/after session allows us to take our time and photograph you without the distractions and excitement of all of your guests vying for your attention.
Are you getting married in the mountains but you spent the early years of your relationship by the beach? Are you getting married in a different city than you live in? Both of these are reasons to have a bridal/after session. It will give us a chance to capture you in a totally different environment than your wedding will take place in.
Whether fashion is a big part of your personality or you have an important sentimental garment you want to be photographed in, you may want to have portraits taken in an outfit that just doesn't fit into the timeline of your wedding day. A bridal/after session is the perfect opportunity to photograph you in it. We can do this at a scenic location, in your home, or even in a studio for a more fashion-forward feel.
The couple above booked an after session because after working with another photographer for their wedding, they weren't as overjoyed with their portraits as they wanted to be. They found me and we did a “redo.” Although I was sad they weren't happy with their own wedding day portraits, I was so happy to be able to provide them with images they will enjoy for years to come.
This couple was getting married in the Redwoods and wanted to capture their love for the beach. They also wanted to share a private, initial first look since on their wedding day, it would be difficult to achieve a first look in a scenic location due to the nature of their venue. We did these photos two weeks before their wedding, when the bride also had her hair and makeup trial. Two birds with one stone!
